PLACEMENT AND TRAINING OF MAURITIAN NATIONALS IN AGRI /FISHING TOURISM  & AQUACULTURE FARMING IN ITALY

In the context of the circular migration pilot project with Italy, a "Placement & Training" programme for Mauritian operators engaged in the tourism and fisheries industries is being organised in Italy. This programme is being funded by the European Union and the Government of Italy and is the result of the collaboration between the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Ministry of Labour, Industrial Relations, Employment and Training of Mauritius (MLIRET) and the Italian Ministry of Labour and Social Policies (MOLSP)..

Applications are invited again for placement & trainingtaking place in June 2015  in two fields: Agri-Tourism/Fishing Tourism and (2)  Aquaculture Farming.

OCCUPATION

PROFILE OF CANDIDATES

  1. Agri-tourism /Fishing-tourism Entrepreneurs

 

  • Fishers and or small producers of fruits and vegetables who are engaged in catering for  guest houses (table d’hôte) or selling their fresh or processed products (fish products and /or vegetables & fruits) directly to tourists and  who have a project to enhance the quality of their products  or add value to the processing for a  small scale tourist activity
  • Full time involvement in a  registered  and active small business activity  
  • Secondary education with  at least Form 3 level
  • Ability to do basic calculations, to read, write, and understand English and French
  • Preference will be given to  candidates from registered groups  of producers /processors  of fruits and vegetables or fishers which are organised along the fruit or vegetable /fishing value chain
  1. Aquaculture Farmers
  • Secondary education with at least Form 3 level
  • Evidence of formal technical training relevant to fishing/aquaculture farming from a recognized training institution
  • At least 1 year proven experience in aquaculture farming or evidence of direct involvement  in a project for the setting up of an aquaculture farm
  • Ability to do basic calculations, to read, write, and understand English and French
  • Preference will be given to registered fishers who meet the above requirements and who form part of a  legally registered group (association/company/cooperative)
