Invitation to Job and Training Fair at Suryavanshi Hall, Flacq

The Ministry has a mandate to accompany jobseekers through training programmes and in their job search to facilitate access to jobs. In line with the Government Programme 2025 - 2029, the Ministry of Labour and Industrial Relations is organising a series of job and training fairs across the island. The first Job and training fair was organised at Super U, Grand Baie on Wednesday 7 May 2025, while the second Job and training fair was held at Port Louis Urban Terminal on Thursday 7 August 2025 and the third job and training fair was conducted at Plaisance Shopping Village Mall, Rose Belle on Wednesday 15 October 2025. In the same vein, the Ministry is conducting a fourth job and training fair at Suryavanshi Hall, Flacq on Monday 2 February 2026 from 9hrs00 to 15hrs30.

  1. A job and training fair is a strategic platform which brings together jobseekers, employers and training institutions to address labour market needs in a coordinated and practical manner. It serves as a direct interface between labour supply and demand, helping to reduce information gaps, improve job matching, and promote inclusive access to employment opportunities. By offering a single space for recruitment, career guidance, and skills development, such fairs enhance labour market efficiency and responsiveness.

3. Job and training fairs play a critical role in improving employability by exposing jobseekers—particularly youth, women, persons with disabilities, and the unemployed—to current labour market opportunities and required skills. They allow participants to better understand employer expectations, emerging occupations, and available training pathways, including upskilling and reskilling programmes. This contributes to workforce readiness and supports smoother school-to-work and training-to-employment transitions. It also provides a space for employers to showcase their organisation, promote available vacancies, and connect with a pool of potential talent more efficiently.

4. During the job and training fair of Flacq, employers representing the following sectors: insurance, trade, hospitality and tourism, health care, textile, manufacturing, security and protective services as well as cleaning services will recruit for a range of jobs such as marketing executive officer, check out operator, cook, waiter, room attendant, nurse, medical officer, machinist, welder, mason, security guard, cleaner among others.

5. Moreover, a training component is included in the fair which ensures that participants who may not yet meet job requirements can be directed toward relevant upskilling and reskilling opportunities. Training institutions will present their programmes and offer guidance on pathways leading to employment in high-demand sectors such as ICT, tourism, green energy, and the digital economy. This proactive approach supports national objectives such as reducing unemployment, addressing skills mismatches, and promoting inclusive participation in the labour force—especially for youth, women, and persons with disabilities. In the context of a rapidly changing world of work, a job and training fair becomes not just an event but a strategic tool for workforce development and social progress.

6. During the Job and training fair, the following training institutions, MITD,Ecole Hôtelière Sir Gaetan Duval and National Women Entrepreneur Council will provide information on training and entrepreneurship, and will register prospective trainees, while the Careers Guidance Service Unit will provide guidance to jobseekers in career prospects on future jobs, re-orientation and strategies to build a life-long sustainable career.

  1. In addition, the Ministry will provide information on its employability enhancement programmes, notably the Youth Employment Programme and Women Back to Work Programme. The latter provides facilities of women to join or re-join the world of work. Among the training that will be proposed, are Fundamentals of Sustainable Agri-business, Basic IT Application Skills, Pastry Making and Care of the Elderly and Disabled Persons.
  2. Interested jobseekers including youth, women and persons with disabilities can also call to register at the Employment Information Centres (EICs) nearest to their residence, so as to benefit from the training programmes as well as service deliveries of the Employment Division.
  3. We invite the public to take maximum advantage of the job and training fair. For any additional information, the public can call on 4050126 or 4050129.
