INVITATION TO THE JOB AND TRAINING FAIR
Town Hall, Municipality of Quatre Bornes
Thursday 25 June 2026

The Ministry of Labour and Industrial Relations has mandate to support jobseekers in their search for employment and facilitate access to decent work through employment services, employability enhancement programmes, and training opportunities. In line with the Government Programme 2025–2029 and its commitment to promoting productive employment and workforce development, the Ministry is organising a series of Job and Training Fairs across the island.

The first Job and Training Fair was held at Super U, Grand Baie, on Wednesday 7 May 2025. The second was organised at the Port Louis Urban Terminal on Thursday 7 August 2025, followed by the third at Plaisance Shopping Village Mall, Rose Belle, on Wednesday 15 October 2025. The fourth fair was conducted at Suryavanshi Hall, Flacq, on Monday 2 February 2026, while the fifth was held at Cascavelle Mall, Cascavelle, on Monday 27 April 2026. To date, these five Job and Training Fairs have contributed to the placement of 312 jobseekers in employment.

The sixth Job and Training Fair will be organised in collaboration with the Municipality of Quatre Bornes at the Town Hall, Quatre Bornes, on Thursday 25 June 2026, from 09:30 hrs to 15:00 hrs.

A Job and Training Fair is a strategic platform that brings together jobseekers, employers, training institutions, and employment service providers to address labour market needs in a coordinated and practical manner. It serves as a direct interface between labour supply and labour demand, helping to reduce information gaps, improve job matching, and promote inclusive access to employment opportunities. By offering recruitment services, career guidance, and skills development opportunities under one roof, such fairs contribute to a more efficient and responsive labour market.

Job and Training Fairs play a vital role in enhancing employability by exposing jobseekers—particularly youth, women, persons with disabilities, and unemployed individuals—to current employment opportunities and emerging skills requirements. They enable participants to better understand employer expectations, discover occupations in demand, and explore available training pathways, including upskilling and reskilling programmes. This contributes to workforce readiness and supports smoother school-to-work and training-to-employment transitions. The fairs also provide employers with an opportunity to promote their organisations, advertise vacancies, and connect efficiently with potential candidates.

During the Quatre Bornes Job and Training Fair, employers from various sectors, including manufacturing, logistics, trade, information and communication technology (ICT), hospitality and tourism, construction, and insurance, will be recruiting for a range of occupations such as Press Operator, Customer Support Agent, Sales Demonstrator, Conseiller Clientèle, Waiter/Waitress, Insurance Advisor, and several other positions.

The training component of the fair will ensure that participants who may not yet meet specific job requirements are directed towards relevant upskilling and reskilling opportunities. Participating training institutions will present their programmes and provide guidance on pathways leading to employment in high-demand sectors such as ICT, tourism, green energy, manufacturing, and the digital economy. This proactive approach supports national objectives aimed at reducing unemployment, addressing skills mismatches, and promoting inclusive participation in the labour force, particularly among youth, women, and persons with disabilities.

The following training institutions and organisations will be present at the fair: Mauritius Institute of Training and Development (MITD), École Hôtelière Sir Gaëtan Duval, the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC), Polytechnics Mauritius, and the Academy of Design and Innovation. These institutions will provide information on training programmes linked to employment opportunities and register prospective trainees. In addition, the Careers Guidance Service Unit of the Ministry will offer career counselling and guidance on future occupations, career reorientation, educational pathways, and strategies for building sustainable lifelong careers.

The Ministry will also provide information on its employability enhancement programmes, notably the Youth Employment Programme and the Women Back to Work Programme. The latter facilitates the reintegration of women into the labour market after a period of absence. Training opportunities available under these programmes include Fundamentals of Sustainable Agribusiness, Basic IT Application Skills, Pastry Making, and Care of Elderly and Disabled Persons, among others.

Interested jobseekers, including youth, women, and persons with disabilities, are encouraged to register with the Employment Information Centre (EIC) nearest to their place of residence in order to benefit from the Ministry’s training programmes and employment services.

The Ministry hereby invites the public, and particularly jobseekers, to take full advantage of the opportunities offered at the Job and Training Fair. For further information, interested persons may contact the National Employment Department on telephone numbers 405 0126 or 405 0129.
